Well. As if California was not in enough trouble already. Now California bill AB 2223 passed the Assembly Health Committee in an 11-3 vote late Tuesday night, The Mercury News reports.
The bill removes criminal liability from mothers in relation to “all pregnancy outcomes” including the death of a newborn for any reason during the period following birth, according to the official Senate analysis of the legislation prepared by State Senate Legislative Director Alison Merrilees.
The bill “could be interpreted to immunize a pregnant person from all criminal penalties for all pregnancy outcomes,” the analysis reads, “including the death of a newborn for any reason during the ‘perinatal’ period after birth.” (PREGNANT PERSON!!?? Give me a break and just shut up already.)
Supporters of AB 2223 say the legislation—which now moves forward to the appropriations committee and then the assembly floor for a vote—would prevent women from being held civilly or criminally liable for certain pregnancy outcomes.
WHAT OPPONENTS OF AB 2223 SAY:
The Right to Life League contends that one section of AB 2223, which exempts mothers from civil and criminal liability if an infant dies during the perinatal period “due to a pregnancy-related cause,” essentially legalizes the killing of newborn babies.
The bill “is intentional, strategic legislation designed to extend abortion rights past birth, to create a protected “fourth trimester” right to infanticide,” The Right to Life website reads.
“A mother, her boyfriend or, for that matter, the babysitter, can starve or beat or shake a 3-week-old baby to death and no one can investigate because under AB 2223 it is a ‘perinatal death,'” writes vice president of legal affairs Susan Arnall on the Right to Life League website.
This is reprehensible. It makes me sick to my stomach. There are plenty of good conservative people in California. Not as many as there were a few years ago, but they are there and voting their heads off, but all to no avail. The corruption in the system of elections and the liberal’s takeover of the state have all but tied the hands of the good and decent people of that state. Now, it is like they don’t have enough to deal with and legalize murder of babies that are already born.
My great-great grandparents on my moms side founded the state of California in the 1860’s. Alexander Salisbury is listed as one of the 10,000 founding fathers of California by the Native Daughter’s of the Golden West. My family is about as native as you can get to that state. I used to be proud. I think of my great-great-great grandfather dying on the Platte River somewhere on the way to California and his son, my great-great grandfather continuing on by wagon train from Ohio in the 1860’s and I wonder what the hell happened. My g-g-grandparents met and married on that wagon train, she was 16 and he was 30 and they lived a long and happy life together built upon extreme hardship.

I watched the show 1883 and it made me think about what people went through to settle the west…all the Indians, bandits, weather, snakes, wolves, food, water and just the danger. The fact that I am even here is a miracle. It puts my heritage on the screen and I watched that show with the eyes of the end game. All that sacrifice. All that uprooting. Yes, there were some good years in there for their progeny. As my mom says “We were poor, but we didn’t know it because everyone else was too.” My family voted for Ronald Reagan for governor and for President.
Now the state has been hijacked. People that were true blue Democrats are even fleeing California and changing the demographics of neighboring states with their migration.
As far as I am concerned, the fact that this bill even passed the pathetic state senate should be a good reason for God to shake the crap out of that statehouse. Let us pray it doesn’t make it past appropriations and the assembly floor vote and DIES. Forever.
BACKGROUND:
“This is a hill for moral people to die on,” said Jack Hibbs, pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, testifying against the bill on Tuesday, Mercury News notes. “As citizens, we must hold you accountable.”
American Faith yesterday reported on a video of Dr. Vansen Huang, described as a “practicing OBGYN of 30+ years,” testifying before the California Senate Assembly that a “close inspection of this bill does allow for the legalization of killing of innocent newborn children up to the age of 28 days.”
A ‘yes’ vote on AB 2223 is “an unequivocal and complete approval of a legalized killing of a newborn baby,” Huang stated. “With all of my heart, I oppose AB 2223 and urge you to vote ‘no.'
