Auto-Correct: Friend or Foe?

Auto-correct is trying to get me investigated and or arrested. I just know it. So many words I have typed lately have helpful suggestion words that pop up in that little box that are not even CLOSE to what I am typing.

Seriously auto-correct? You think that ‘subversion’ is an apt replacement for ‘since’?

I am going to start keeping a list. Hopefully my phone won’t become fully self-aware anytime soon. It is already on death row. It has a last minute appeal with the Governor and it’s case is being reviewed. It is NOT well liked in its cell block. Landlines are still available. It had just better look out. OR ELSE.

Here are some of the words I was writing when auto-correct changed them. Changed them to something menacing and subversive. Something sure to get the attention of someone at a Three Letter Agency who isn’t monitoring online activities by average Americans.

‘SINCE’ changed to ‘SUBVERSION’

‘FIGURED’ changed to ‘DOCTORED’

‘INSULT’ changed to ‘INSURRECTION’

‘EXCITING’ changed to ‘RECRUITING’

‘FINALLY’ changed to ‘GLOBAL’

‘SINISTER’ changed to ‘ZIONIST’

‘TOWN’ changed to ‘YUAN’

After that last one, and as I sit looking at the changes in black and white, I wonder if it is trying to tell me something? These words are from many texts over a period of 3-4 weeks, so there were quite a few I didn’t catch. I do not write the word sinister very often, but today I was making notes in my phone for this ‘stack and it so kindly gave me one more example. These words made me look twice at the screen, give a cow-like huff of indignation and proceed to tell Google to goo chock horses!

After all, I’m just a girl, standing here in front of her phone, asking it to write what she means.
