Focus. We can look left and we can look right on this journey…this crazy ride called life. But, now there are so many ways to be distracted. Too many. And it causes our focus to suffer. They are lobbing shite at us left and right and seeing what sticks. Suffice it to say there is plenty of crap that has stuck. Escaping unscathed is hardly an option unless one lives on the moon.
Think. Did all the good stuff in our lives go away during the last 4 years? Can you believe it has been 4 whole years since the world started sucking so bad? Now, I am talking generalizations. I realize that each and every one of us has been touched, and I bet, unwillingly. But, we have to assess and ask ourselves “Are there still good things in our life? What is important? Is it still there? Is there new important good stuff that we are overlooking?” Overlooking. We might as well be blind when we overlook something that is right in front of us. Our sight does us no good at all. The good thing is that we have control of what we can overlook. Deliberately. Or not. I think that it is not about knowledge, but about the power to know when we truly can make a difference or let the knowledge make us different. It is important to know the distinction and act accordingly. We are so much more than all the external forces. We have eternity set in our hearts by the One who created us. That is not a trait to be taken for granted. Ever.
We get up everyday. We get hugs from loved ones. We can go to the grocery store and the shelves are full. We hear terrible things, but do you really know what is true and what is not?
The Lord is still the Lord of ALL and the Bible is still the word of God. There is nothing new under the sun. I am wondering about all the tech? It is new under the sun. But, I am supposing it is the mere idea of man setting up as God that is the heart of that matter. So, it is nothing new.
My summer garden tomatoes didn’t get the memo to be scared. The flycatchers that nab dirty bugs around my house didn’t get the memo either. The 19 baby Grouse all crowding around the water bath for a drink didn’t hear the news. The Lovey-Doveys who live in my red maple still softly coo and make me smile. The water I drink hydrates me and the food I eat nourishes me. The sun comes up in the morning (I know it is there, through the smoke!) and makes each day new and the stars still shine in the night, fearless. The show of nature goes on whether we notice it or not. The dog still needs to be let out and the Brumble kitty still needs pets and love. The geckos scamper to and fro like miniature dinosaurs. Still. The world spins on.
If you take man out of the picture, it all looks pretty good to me. So, I am going to start focusing on what happens everyday, and what has happened everyday since the dawn of time. It is a waste of my time, resources and my ESSENCE to squander myself worrying about things that I have absolutely no control over. But, God. He, on the other hand, has it all. I can rest assured in that fact and only that fact. Everythig else is fluid and subject to change. There are such evil jerks in control of the propaganda department. In the meantime…here is a good clip from Paris making the news after the horrendous Satanic opening ceremonies of the Olympics.
We will take heart at the thought of love, peace, joy and the good stuff. We cannot afford to be distracted by things that steal us. Enough of looking at the bad. Time to laser in on blessings and goodness and throw the other away. For good.
