I wrote the essay Reflections of The Great American Pivot (in bold font below) 2 years ago. Trump was President and oil was in negative territory. Ignorance is pure bliss. No news is good news. Hindsight is 20/20. Blah. Blah. Blah. I was SO optimistic about the outcome. Americans can rally! Yay. God bless America! This unknown sickness will unite America and we shall overcome! Well…there are not enough faces to palm in the world, or enough “ughs” and “arrrrghs” to cover what we all feel. I have made a huge pivot myself; from a patriotic woman, crying with pride when she saw the American flag waving in the breeze held by a young lady on a galloping horse at the rodeo to a disillusioned citizen of a nation that I no longer recognize. I can add many dis words to this. Disgusted. Disgruntled. Disappointed. Dismayed. Disenfranchised. And the list goes on. If I was not a child of the Almighty God and the daughter of The King, I would have NO hope at all. I cannot depend upon my “elected” representatives to represent me in anything. What a joke. All the hand sanitizer in the universe could not help that ooze coming from the halls of government; right down to a school board. Does anyone have the best interests of anyone else at heart when they are sitting in a position of “power”. Um, these little teeny tiny people that sit in these places go mad with that “power”. Give me a break. Are you kidding me? Just like the people who enforce wearing masks in random places, they take on a little responsibility and BAM! Those little people! Channeling Herr Goebbels. I have often wondered how the Nazi’s got away with committing such atrocities and the alarming passivity if not active involvement of every day citizens. I DO NOT WONDER ANY LONGER. The dividing of this nation is greater than anything we have ever seen before. America is going, going…but let’s pray it is not gone.
Reflections of The Great American Pivot April 14, 2020
I titled this essay as such because it is THE pivot, not A pivot. What I am observing is a pivot that will come to define a nation. A pivot that will be unlike anything the world has ever seen; a pivot in the strongest, greatest nation on this earth. If America can be paused long enough and turned, the rest of the world will follow into collapse or victory easily. America and her people, your people, my people, us and THE US (You think it is an accident that the acronym for the United States is US??) are the result of people who were tired of paying for the extravagant and decadent lifestyles of people a continent away. They were tired of being taxed without a voice in where the money went. There is a reason that “tired” and “overtaxed” mean virtually the same thing. They were tired of having NO voice. The early patriots were tired of soldiers forcing their way into homes for no reason. They were tired of being arrested for their words, the offended a select few. We are the result of seeds planted centuries ago. The blood of patriots run through America’s veins. Literally. From a few seeds a great nation was born. It was a hard fought birth and the soil and waters of this great land turned RED as a result. But we overcame. Yes, I am lumping “you” into “we”. Whose blood do you think you have running underneath your skin? Is it Spanish? Is it English? Is it Welsh? Is it Irish? Is it French? Is it German? Does it have it’s roots in Cameroon? Liberia? Ethiopia? India? Kenya? But, yet YOU are here and are part of US. We are the only nation on earth that will let you become a “nationality”. Her nationality. American. We cannot relocate our address to Paris and become French. We cannot relocate to England and be of English blood. But, America receives such with open arms. Assimilate. Learn about the country. Take a test. Become an American! No other country on earth offers the same. Read your Constitution please. Please. Read the Declaration of Independence. Independence. NOT dependence! The Revolutionary War was won by men who fought in the dead of winter with no shoes. It was fought in each home, every night. It was fought in streets and in the mountains. It was fought with words and it was fought with guns. It was won by Americans who lived and won by Americans who died. But, it was not won by Americans who gave up.
Ok, let me see if I have this straight. We have a worldwide pandemic. We are quarantined in our homes. Some state Governors are telling American citizens what they can and can't buy. Some are also telling it's inhabitants that you can go on a bike ride, but you can't go camping. You can go for a boat ride, but you cannot fish. You cannot see your friends and have a glass of wine, but porn site traffic is through the roof. You can go to the liquor store, oh, and by the way, cannabis sales have skyrocketed since the lockdown. The Chinese own 1 in 4 hogs in the United States, and also own vital food processing infrastructure on our soil. Our computers and smart phones are spying on us. The people "WE THE PEOPLE" elected to represent us in Washington D.C.are sucking every last taxpayer dollar they can get for their own nefarious pet projects. The President of the United States is verbally abused on every "news" channel, as he tried to lift this country and economy to it's knees again. The price of oil is now NEGATIVE and our retirement accounts are being depleted at an alarming rate. When is it all going to be TOO MUCH?? I am just wondering....
