I have noticed that in this day of internet invisibility and social media power, people have become giant jerks. They hide behind thousands of followers who are okay with their abhorrent behavior, in opposition to what would have been the norm 30 years ago. Thirty years ago people would have been reprimanded at work for saying to a subordinate “Get this vaccine, you f**kity f**k.” Now, they post this nastiness all over their social media and to their subordinate and nobody blinks an eye. They get more “followers”. What a joke. Covid has brought out the inner Nazi in people who would otherwise go through life as an uninteresting nobody, stuck as a cog in a wheel of excruciating mediocrity. Covid+Internet=Disaster. If there was no internet, would there have even been a pandemic?
I am torn about the usefulness of being online. There are so many things to explore, but that in itself opens up doors that we might just not want to open.
It can bring out the best in people. People can help others easily. It is wonderful. The Word of God can be shared with the blink of an eye. The internet has great power. Hurray for humanity! We are that much closer to the return of the Savior, because everyone on earth has had the chance to accept or reject His divine promise. It is free will.
Then there is the other. It seems as if some people have become total pigs. I don’t mean to insult my favorite snack, but the behavior and words of people these days is just plain rude. Have you noticed that the irritated leftists masses hate everywhere? They hate with their keyboard, they hate with their riots, they hate with their signatures on legislation. They hate with their bumper stickers and the sayings on their T-shirts. How much hate and loathing do we let ourselves take before we strike back?
That which divides us seems to be much bigger than that which unites us. Remember, unite and untie is one little misspelling away from sheer chaos. But let’s take a look at how we are all the same as each other, rather than focusing on the differences. We are all the same species. We all breathe air, eat food and procreate to make more of us. We all need shelter. We all live on the same planet. As I type this it makes me wonder though. Are we really more different than the same? I see people who could be aliens. They look like aliens. I see women, but was that really a woman? I see men, but was that really a man? I literally have no idea. Do we all have free will? Look at China. Do we serve the same God? Definitely not. Everyone serves someone, whether it be themselves, God, evil, Satan, Bill Gates, Mother Earth or Blindy Butt Bag the Rapper. The internet has made most men equal. Give people a Facebook page and they will rule the world. And, if they can’t do that, they will find a way to make a few poor, unfortunate souls miserable. They say things online they would never dare to say to someone’s face.
How long will it be before we just give in and let ‘em have it? Bam! Right in the kisser. Batman and Robin of the internet. Pow! Whack! Boom! Shut up! Be nice! Is that possible? Being bad is always the easy thing to do. Being righteous and good is the hard path, but I have a feeling it will all be worth it in the end. After all, life in the “here and now” is just a dress rehearsal for life in the “there and forever”. Do the right thing now in preparation for later. You will never regret good behavior. Let’s not stoop anymore. Let us rise above in all ways.
