Reflections on Captured America
I know I am not the only one feeling a distinct lack of patriotism this July 4th, 2023. With each passing Independence Day, the joy of being an American and the pride in America diminishes significantly. When was the last time you felt tears rise at the sight of the American flag?
My favorite flag moments are at rodeos. The beautiful girl on horseback, riding around a dead silent arena, with the waving Old Glory making the distinct, sharp whipping sound in the breeze. It never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
It is the embodiment of America and the west, that freedom. We are not beholden to the power of other men, but endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
The cancer that has been growing in America has no right to be here. Do we have the capability to fight it? We have no idea how powerful we really are together. The government derives its power from the consent of the governed. WE ARE THE GOVERNED.
‘They’ have no right to take away who we are. We have every right to take away who ‘they’ are.
The fear peddling only sells if you buy it. Yes, we all have our weak moments, but we cannot afford to let fear win. It is what community is for, even if it is a Substack one.
Winston Churchill’s words became rallying cries to people who were living the unimaginable horror of an all out bullet and bomb war. We now fight a very different kind of war for our actual soul. It is insidious and there are no bombs, but we are in a war. Make no mistake about that. Where is our Churchill? Where is the person who will speak for us? Could it be one of us?

Have you noticed that the headlines spout doom and gloom into every corner of our daily lives? From the fouled food we eat, to the very earth under our feet, the news is ALL bad. France is falling and Americans are frying under a high pressure heat dome and breathing particles from burning plastic Canadian trees. And…now the neighbors have the bomb. China is taking over ports in Havana and Nicaragua. The Babylon Bee is having a hard time competing. Choose courage.
It is much easier to spread propaganda than to actually make ‘the bad’ happen. Propaganda is oozed out by slimy media mouths and people believe it. It is so much cheaper to have the words pummel a hapless population and watch the reaction, facts be damned. PROPAGANDA IS THE AMMUNITION OF A BANKRUPT REGIME.

My ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War, The War of 1812, The Civil War, WW 1, WW 2 and Korea. My family tree is a fascinating mix that make up who I am…an American. The Constitution is MINE, bought and paid for with blood. I choose courage.

Lets not forget that Obama signed into law the ok to use propaganda against the American people. With all of the bloviating from our elected officials I for one have not heard that they were going to undue this legislation? I wonder why this is? Thanks, Sadiejay, you made me think.
Excellent writing. It perfectly sums up how my husband and I felt yesterday. And, the last time I cried for the flag WAS at a rodeo! For me, rodeos are the one gathering of humanity that gives me hope.
