We hold the power within ourselves to cause great internal damage. Or not. What cause could make us feel like we are being eaten up from within and damage our state of play? What thing indeed?
We give power to things that reside in us, to points of view we may hold, to others opinion of us (or what we assume is their opinion). We give power to love when we give it away. We give power to kindness when we give it away. We give power to greatness just by listening instead of talking. We hold the power to let things fester or to let the ugly free by turning and facing the problem. Chances are, when we hit it straight on, there is light when we thought darkness was absolute. There is a rainbow where we only saw the rain. There is our Creator orchestrating the life we arise to every single day. Distraction produces inattention and self absorption, which will lead to the gnawing dread that fills the souls of so many around us.
We can have the good stuff. We deserve the good stuff. And we can choose life. And have it more abundantly. I refuse to give power to the evil. I refuse to give my power away to circumstances and happenstance. I choose the power of slamming the door on the unwanted and knowing just how powerful that is.
An old grandfather was teaching his grandson about life:
“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil–he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”
He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you–and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf will win?”
The grandfather simply replied, “The one you feed.”
Excellent reminder. So true. Thanks, SadieJay!
