You and I think alike. Don't you wish you'd had this wisdom from your 20s on? But I guess all of our past made us who we are today. Have a great weekend!

Right? Things would have been different.

There are so many life lessons in the yard. I actually enjoy getting out in the Spring and seeing the new life, it's a reminder to slow down and marvel at God's creation.

Funny our pastor's sermon last weekend was around 'pruning' as well. It's necessary for new growth - but not always something we seek out, as it is pain in the short term. Think we have all seen a lot of pruning these last 4 years.

Isn't that a fact? I have grown more in the last 4 years than the previous 50. So there is that.

Same. There is no doubt, that even though I thought I was awake before 2020, turns out I was NOT. Went to brunch with my mom and kids for mother's day and then spent the rest of the day in the yard, and thought of another metaphor. Weeds are so much easier to grow than ornamental plants. They can grow in a crack in the sidewalk, and any patch of dirt sitting empty will fill with weeds, that survive drought, too much rain, and left unattended, are prolific propagators. We battle mightily to control our environment - plant flowers, vegetables, fruit - but if we are not vigilant - the weeds take over. They start out tiny, easy to ignore, but the next thing you know, they grow twice as fast, have deep roots, and keep coming back. We've ignored the weeds too long, and now the battle to eradicate them is a big struggle. And too many are standing up for the weeds.

YES! I have thought of that so many times. I am such a good weed grower it is insane. Just like inside the house and being gone for a few weeks....you come home and stuff has tried to move in while you were gone. It is a never-ending battle to keep out the bad and make the good welcome. Makes us press on. Well, press on if we want our surroundings to be peaceful and a place we want to spend time. Chaos makes me really cranky, and if it is at my house, I have to fix it. Otherwise I just have to take myself out of it.
