If it comes from God eat it! You know real food that needs to be in the fridge and of coarse root vegies. I'm a foodie and my moto has always been: "If your not eating well your not living well!" I remember telling my Father that when he had some stupid eat don't eat list from the doctors office. He was 77 years old had smoked for 54 years and all of the health issues that go along with that! Rule of thumb simple: if you don't know what it is don't eat it! I make everything from scratch. We don't snack no chips, dips, cookies, donuts or anything else that comes from a factory. My food comes from a kitchen! Thanks Sadie Jay keep up the good work! Stay healthy!
I've forgotten the man's name, but I can see his face. He is/was well known in the world of what to eat, what to avoid, etc. He came to Boston to present. I attended, and I will always remember what he said about grocery stores: "Don't go down the aisles!"
I remember laughing...Everything you need sits at the perimeter of the store -- the Produce section, the Dairy section, the Meat section. The stuff in the aisles?? The sugar, the chips, the soda, the beer?
I quit drinking alcohol in '09. Haven't smoked a joint or done any psychedelics since 1968. My daily sugar intake is less than half what it was in my youth. I'm trying to lay off the carbs and stop coffee consumption. Never been a big soda drinker. My fighting weight was 165-175 when I was still road cycling, surfing, hiking, and slalom water skiing. Lower back injury put the kybosch on all the fun stuff 6 years ago. So now I walk.
Life at nearly 76 y.o. is sooo f-ing boring. I'll likely never give up my cookie addiction, and the choc shakes a couple times a month. It was so great when I could work and live full throttle. The Golden Years suck.
Wow…you were VERY active for a long time. That is awesome. Seems like we are all of a like mind. Healthy food habits make for a healthy life. We weren’t made to process processed food! And..a little cookie here and there is fine I think. I have to decide what I am going to beat myself up about and some things are not worth the beating but some are.
It was so cool when we could consume quantities of food that now aren't good for us, because our active lifestyles were burning up the bad stuff along with it. I had set a goal long ago to keep up with my recreational pursuits until at least 80 y.o. 'C'est la Vie'! say the old folks like me. The good news is I have found other ways to stay active and positive. Its taken some years, and the covid mania/WWIII has added a huge kink, delay in my new pursuits, but finding camaraderie with folks like yourself and on other channels too has really helped keep my spirits up, and provided inspiration to carry on. Blessings to you, and many others for putting yourself out there and providing good dialog to share in, and be a refuge from The Storm for all of us.
Wonderful post, Sadie, and so full of truth. Thank you for sharing that. I have a couple of close family members with whom I’m going to share your article because it includes your struggles and victories and ongoing journey.
I have to admit, you had me guffawing with laughter all alone 😬 when I saw this. “Just the month before, I had seen a specialist for pain in my joints. X-rays had shown tendinitis and arthritis in my hands, feet and cankles.”
Hahahaha! DS & I both love Rush Limbaugh and he used to talk about cankles. That’s how I learned the word! Anyway, after DS’ surgery on May 6th, he was incredibly swollen on that right side. Even he claimed he had “Lizzo thigh.” That’s when I told him that it’s the one Camille that takes the cake.
Anyway, that’s a long and unnecessary explanation about why that gave me so much laughter and joy when I read it.
How has your husband fared? Is he healthier too? Also, we should discuss this whole high cholesterol mess another time. I have very strong opinions. XOXO
Yes, Hubs lost and we are both far better now than we were. I can't believe how much we used to eat. I am thinking you and I might think alike about the cholesterol scam. ♥
I changed how we eat because DS NEEDED (and still needs some) to lose weight, but also because I wanted us to be more deliberate about what we put in our bodies. This was several years ago. We still eat a LOT because we basically live the Whole30, Keto lifestyle. Honestly, I would rather live totally carnivore, but DS — though open to it — isn’t ready to make that move yet.
Yes! The more I’ve learned about statin drugs and the cholesterol lies (which I think probably began as just an honest mistake, but…), the more it irks me. DS is still about 20 pounds overweight, but has done a good job of losing and keeping off what he’s lost. Anyway, our doc put him on statins a couple of years ago. All glory to God, I came across the information about statins about a month into him taking them. I stopped that immediately. Next doc visit he declined the prescription much to the doc’s chagrin.

Thank you! That is all great advice. Look forward to dinner at your place soon. Haha♥
What a great story, SadieJay! Good for you!

"Don't go down the aisles!" Still makes me laugh.
Yes! Shop the outside aisles. Thank you. Hard work every day (she typed, with an organic cookie in her mouth).
I enjoyed reading this, SadieJay.

Now if I could just figure out how to combine Unjected Resister with J.Ward III I'd be happy. Well, stay tuned, I'm working on that as we speak!
You will get it…I have no doubt. I appreciate you and your wisdom and our connection. Good luck!
Good for you, SadieJay. Impressive. And excellent advice! Keep it simple works with most stuff, including food. :-)
Yep. KISS. Keep it simple, Sadie. Haha.
