I've been looking more into organic foods. Lately I've noticed some veggies and fruits have no flavor at all. Or maybe I am noticing lack of nutrients in these foods.

i agree with that. If you go to other countries, the food is WAY better. And it tastes delish. Even in Africa.

Speaking of this...my Dr. Mercola newsletter was very interesting this morning. I tell you...eating is truly a slog. Trying to find the good ingredients.. I spend most of my time in the stores reading labels. And I cannot enjoy food that is adulterated, in any way shape or form. But, that is what America does!! I have read to buy the ugliest looking veggie you can (potatoes, etc.) because those taste the best.

I just finished reading A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley, which is both a page-turner and an indictment of burgeoning Big Ag as it depicts Iowa in the late 70s. I might have to write a post about it, if only to illustrate YET AGAIN how lies and greed corrupt everything: soil, trust, marriages, families, nations.

Thanks for the onion info... I've been organic for 30 years and counting. It's the only way.

Easy to find organic onions? I really haven't looked since I don't use THAT many. But now...ugh. I am just catching up with organic. Counting how many ingredients that are science instead of authentic now. Sheesh

It's a huge conundrum. If the entire world went organic, we would have mass starvation as the cost is necessarily higher due to lower yields. We would not be able to produce enough food to feed everyone and many cannot afford organic. And even that certification process is sketchy. And big ag is REALLY big - if RFK Jr/Trump are successful next week they will still have another battle on their hands as these companies hold a tremendous amount of power. Spent a year going back and forth to Iowa due to a big year long project there in 2015 - my clients were a group of economic development entities but they were controlled and bowed to the big ag companies who had a say in every aspect of the project. Of course the amount of food that gets wasted is staggering and that may be one way to address the lower yield question.

I have thought about everyone parroting 'organic' at the same time lately. And starvation has crossed my mind. But also, the more nutrition our food holds, the less we will have to eat. And so many Americans are hooked on terrible UPF's. I doubt they will look twice at what it is doing to their health and continue to pile it into their ride-on cart at the grocery stores. The seed article was very interesting from Mercola this morning as well.
